Alia's question in Peru

Outdoor

Hi All! I’m heading down to Cusco next week and was hoping to spend a few days trekking in the Ausangate area and see Rainbow Mountain. Does anyone have any tips to finding local guides? I would normally go unguided but have gotten a lot of feedback that it may not be the best idea to hike that area solo. I’ve looked a bit online but everything seems to be big tour companies that aren’t even based in Peru & I’d rather spend local for the local service.

Best bet is to walk around the main square and visit different tour companies
any experience with guides there?
Caleb is right... just walk around the main square. There are a ton of companies. I talked to a few and picked the one I was most comfortable with.
Thanks! I was a bit worried that I needed to book ahead of time but it sounds like it’s easy to find a guide with short notice.
