Jacobs Inn
Polish food is underrated and Przy Jakubie (Jacobs Inn) could not be in a better spot of Zgorzelec. Prices are easily 20% less than what one would pay in the adjoining German city of Görlitz and service is almost delightful.
Food seems very fresh and the presentation is what one would expect of a high end café or bistro in Paris or Strasbourg. I began with a plate of pierogi ruskie (a national delicacy of potato and cheese filled dumplings) which easily gives Italian ravioli a run for its money. The cost - 10 Polish złoty (3 GBP approx.)!
Next up - one confit of duck with a potato mash, complimented with two separate condiments of apple and cranberry. The dish was far from heavy as one might expect of duck and yet the balance of meat with some of the sauces was very well suited.
Two main meals, a starter of pierogi four alcoholic beverages and the classic Polish apple pie came to an astounding 27.75€.
I would highly recommend this when making a trip out to Zgorzelec and neighbouring Görlitz. The restaurant accepts euros!
