Taipa
Taipa is an old neighborhood in Macau steps away from mega casinos like the Venetian. When I thought of Macau I did not think of this kind of old charm and walking down these very European streets with chinese signs and old Chinese apothecaries. I found the juxtaposition fascinating. Unfortunately this is the only part of Macau I really saw because I came to Macau on a day trip from Hong Kong (probably more doable if I left earlier in the morning) on a chinese holiday (?) and had to make it back in the evening for a flight out of Hong Kong. I feel like normally all the shuttles the casinos offer is extremely convenient to get around but the holiday day I was there the lines were insane and it subsequently made me a little insane. Anybody know if this is any better on none holiday days?
