This glorious work of architecture was finished in a mad rush, 150 years after building began, to welcome Pope John Paul II. Apparently, the Pope heard that the last minute finishing meant that the building was rather unsafe and so he only spent a couple of minutes inside. #plaza #church #cathedral #architecture #history
