Musée d'Orsay
The luminous Musee d’Orsay is almost as famous for its dramatic setting, a former railway station with its irresistibly charming clock, as it is for their collection. But oh my, what a collection! It’s hard to know where to begin here in the world’s largest assemblage of Impressionist and post-Impressionist works, but the brilliant and unforgettable Cezannes, Van Goughs and Toulouse-Lautrecs are as good a place as any. I’ve met more than a few travelers who’ve actually preferred this museum to the Louvre and I think they’ve got a fairly compelling case to make in this debate..
